"新时期文学"是在利用"十七年"社会主义文学资源的基础上,与"走向世界"的策略谨慎地并轨,在不损害社会主义根本价值系统的前提下,找到了一种新的可能性。"现代化想象"曾导致了"人"与"历史"的脱节,导致了抽去"当代记忆"的"中国经验"的弱化。作家和文学理论家们在竭力脱离旧梦的时候,其实也在不自觉地利用着旧有的资源。新的文学传统的建立是无法绕过传统的。

＂New Era Literature＂ is a new possibility on the basis of the use of socialist literature re sources of the ＂Seventeen Years＂, with the careful merger of ＂going to the world＂ strategy, and with no harm to the fundamental value system of socialism. ＂Modern thought＂ has led ＂people＂ and ＂history＂ out of touch, weakening the ＂China experience＂ by taking away the ＂modern memory＂. When writers and literary theorists struggled to get rid of the old dreams, they are, in fact, unconsciously using the old resource. The establishment of a new literary tradition can not bypass the tradition.
