The stage from Impressionism to Wassily Kandinsky was an important one for the transition from figural painting arts to abstract painting arts. Impressionism was the first to break through the resistance of tradition and weaken the interfering factors beyond painting such as the disturbance of religions and literature. Accordingly it found out the value of colors themselves and established its independent position in painting. Wassily Kandinsky was the one who first broke through the hindrance from the figural arts of traditional painting and discovered the spiritual value of the painting art and thus made a tremendous impact on subsequent abstractionism.
