摘要
目前,普通高校普遍存在着学生汉译英水平低下的现象,如何改进翻译教学,提高学生的翻译能力是迫切需要解决的问题。笔者尝试利用莱考夫概念隐喻理论建立一种有效的汉译英翻译模式,以求与传统的翻译方法互补。汉英语言中存在着大量的概念隐喻系统,通过判断汉英概念隐喻系统所蕴含的文化意象的一致性、相似性或相悖性,采用相应的翻译方法。这种翻译手段避开了传统的直译和意译、归化和异化翻译观点的争论,促使学生利用概念隐喻认知学习,掌握这种更为实用的翻译方法。
At present, the improficiency of college students in Chinese - English translation seems to be a common phenomenon in regular institutions of higher education. Evidently, the improvement of translation teaching and students'translating ability should be put on top priority. This paper tries to apply Lakoff's theory of conceptual metaphor to the practice of C - E translation with a view to creating an effective C - E translation model, which intends to complement the traditional translating methods. There are large quantities of conceptual metaphor systems existing in both Chinese and English languages. They can be identical, similar or different. By identifying the relationship of the cultural images of conceptual metaphors of both languages, corresponding translating methods can be adopted. This methodology not only averts the disputes of traditional translating methods like literal translation and free translation, domestication and dissimilation, but stimulates students to utilize conceptual metaphors consciously and grasp this more practical translating method as well.
