《好逑传》英译本版本研究——以帕西译本和德庇时译本为中心

A Study of the English Versions of Hau Kiou Choaan:Focusing Upon Percy's Version and Davis' Version

《好逑传》是第一部被译成西文的中国古代长篇小说,自1761年英译本出版后,先后被转译为法语、德语、荷兰语等多种语言,形成了《好逑传》西文译本语言多样、版本丰富的特征。其中帕西译本和德庇时译本是最重要、流传最广的两种译本。帕西译本和德庇时译本在故事单元的编排整合、章回目录的释读翻译、诗词歌赋的翻译润色和文字词语的选择修饰等各个方面存在着不同;从帕西译本到德庇时译本,西人对中国古典小说的认识逐渐深入,评价日益肯定,翻译越来越忠于原著,在一定程度上体现了《好逑传》英译本的历史演变轨迹。

Hau Kiou Choaan is the first Chinese classical saga which has been translated into different western languages. Since the publication of its English version in 1761, the saga has been translated into French, Germany, Dutch, and so on. Therefore, Hau Kiou Choaan has various versions, of which Percy＇ s version and Davis＇ s version are the most important and most popular ones. There are differences between the two versions in the arrangement of units, in the translations of chapter titles and poems, as well as in the choices of words, expressions and sentences. Form Percy＇ s version to Davis＇ version, western people have gradually gained a deeper knowledge of Chinese classical fiction, and they have changed their negative opinions of Chinese classical fiction into positive ones. In addition, the translations are increasingly faithful to the original, which to some extent reflects the historical proceeding of Hau Kiou Choaan＇ s English versions.
