明清江南地方家族与民间信仰略论——以苏州、松江为例

A Brief Discussion of Local Families and Folk Beliefs in the Southern Region of the River During Ming and Qing Dynasties:Taking Suzhou and Songjiang as Examples

明清时代江南地方家族与民间信仰之间不存在绝对的疏离。研究表明,地方家族的家庙宗祠往往和民间寺观结合在一起,互为奥援。而在更多情况下,因经济、文化等多重利益的存在,它们还会更深入地介入地方信仰之中,从而对江南民间信仰的发展产生特有的影响,而民间信仰的存在反过来也会对家族的发展产生影响。

During the Ming and Qing dynasties there existed no absolute estrangement among local families and folk beliefs in the southern region of the lower Changjiang River valley. Researches show that familial temples and ancestral halls of local families were combined with folk temples or monasteries, the former and the latter powerfully backing each other. On many occasions, as there existed multiple interests of economy and culture, they would get involved more profoundly in local beliefs. Thus, they exerted special influence on the development of folk beliefs in the region south of the River, and the existence of folk beliefs in turn influenced the development of local families.
