邓小平社会主义本质论在回答什么是社会主义、怎样建设社会主义的同时,也回答了什么是社会主义和谐社会、怎样建设社会主义和谐社会的问题。邓小平认为,共同富裕是社会主义的终极目标。实现共同富裕目标的过程就是建设社会主义和谐社会的过程。大力发展生产力是实现共同富裕的物质基础,构建和谐社会的主要任务是大力发展生产力;坚持公有制为主体是实现共同富裕的基本前提,构建和谐社会必须坚持公有制为主体;走勤劳致富之路是实现共同富裕的重要途径,构建和谐社会必须坚持按劳分配为主体;防止两极分化是实现共同富裕的重要任务,构建和谐社会必须防止两极分化。

The essence of Deng Xiaoping＇s socialism explains what the harmonious society of socialism is and how to construct it while explaining what socialism is and how to construct it. According to Deng Xiaoping, common wealth is the ultimate goal of socialism, namely, the process of common prosperity is that of socialism harmonious society. To make efforts to develop productivity is the material foundation for common prosperity so that the preliminary task of constructing the harmonious society is to develop productivity. To insist on the public-ownership as the main body is the basic premise for common prosperity so that the position of Public-Ownership as the main body must be insisted on in order to construct the harmonious society. To become rich by way of hard-working is the vital way for common prosperity so that the method of distribution according to labor must also be insisted on for constructing harmonious society. To prevent polarization is the important task. for common prosperity so that polarization must be prevented for constructing harmonious society.
