The Clash between Modern Ideology and Traditional Ideas: Dual Ideological Features of Su Manshu's Novels

中国近现代史上的一些知识分子和文学家的矛盾与痛苦,有着复杂的历史特性,许多时候是与国家、时代直接联系在一起的。苏曼殊也是如此。在其小说中,他一方面抨击传统的封建观念,塑造了一系列具有个性解放色彩的女性形象;另一方面他又在某些方面遵从封建礼教的要求,用封建传统观念来衡量人和事,从而表现出鲜明的两重性。

The contradictions and miseries suffered by some scholars and writers in China＇s modem history take on complex historical features and sometimes are related to the nation and the time. The same is true of Su Manshu, whose novels on the one hand criticize the feudal ideas by describing a number of women characters who are seeking personal liberation and on the other hand give in to the feudal ethical codes by judging the people and events with the feudal concepts, show the dual ideological features.
