Huaishui and Sishui Mythologies:Their Relation with A Journey tothe West and Dissemination

盱眙的蠙城、淮水、泗水、大圣禅寺、龟山寺(龟山)等众多地名、盱眙山景观与《西游记》描写的地望有极其紧密的关联,盱眙神话、传说中的人物与《西游记》的内容亦有相当贴近的联系,由此入手,探讨了盱眙淮泗与《西游记》的直接联系,并通过巫支祁神话传说与孙悟空、淮泗神话对《西游记》故事叙述的影响,阐述淮泗神话的流传对《西游记》成书的影响。

There is close relationship between the antithetical description of scenery in A Journey to the West and Xuyu Mountain, Bincheng, the Huaishui River, Sishui River, the Temple for Monkey King and many other places in Xuyu City. Proofs show that the mythology and legends in Xuyu are directly related to the novel. Besides, the legends about Monkey King in the Huaishui and Sishui mythologies have influenced the story-telling in A Journey to the West.
