From the perspective of how women become insane, this paper deals with the loss of woman＇s identity in general. In male - dominated and phalocentric society, women＇s insanity and the loss of their identity have a natural link. By analyzing the reason why Bosha Mason got insane, this paper intneds to solve the myth of the loss of woman＇s identity. Bersha Mason is a character in the novel ＂Jane Eyre＂, written by the famous 19th Century British woman writer Charlotte Bronte. Bosha is the wife of the man Rochester whom Jane loved. This paper tries to indicate how she was maltreated, and became the other, by analyzing her background and the way of her being marginalized. From the analysis of this character, people can see how phalocentrie society discriminates and persecutes women in general so that people can further understand the loss of woman＇s identity and decentralize phalocentrism in society.
