The Backwash of the Translation Test and the Problems Exist in Current Translation Test

英语翻译测试对英语教学有着极大的反拨作用,正确运用翻译测试手段,能有效评估教学效果和教学质量,掌握学习者英语的熟练程度,诊断和分析学习者的语言错误,促进学习者的英语学习。通过分析翻译测试中存在的一系列问题,提出翻译测试命题教师要尽可能做到翻译题型多样化,科学化并制定相应的评分标准以尽量体现评分的科学性和客观性。

Tests of English translation can have a strong backwash effect on the teaching and learning of the English language. Proper application of translation tests can effectively evaluate the quality and results of the teaching efforts, identify and pinpoint the test takers＇ mistakes, ascertain the learners＇ level of mastery, and thereby improve their English proficiency. Through analyzing problems existing in current translation tests, the author comes up with the suggestions that teachers shall design translation tests scientifically, diversify the test modes as much as possible and in the meanwhile, set up corresponding score standard that is reasonable and objective.
