Abusive supervisory behaviors reflect the dark and destructive side of leadership in the organizations. Abusive supervision refers to subordinates' perceptions of the extent to which their supervisors engage in sustained display of hostile, verbal and non-verbal behaviors excluding physical contact. Our literature review focuses on the emerging definition and measurement of abusive supervision. We provide a review of the literature that summarizes what is known about the antecedents and consequences of abusive supervision and the mediating mechanism and moderating mechanism. We also discuss their implications for future research.
