Vice-Chancellor Shirley Pearce awarded Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin a Loughborough University Honorary Doctorate on August 30, 2009 at a graduation ceremony held in Beijing to mark Loughborough＇s centennial. In accepting the doctorate, President Gu congratulated Loughborough on its centennial and expressed the hope that the two universities could build more collaborative partnerships in the coming years.
