The experimental data on FTIR and NMR spectra show that the interaction of Eu 3+ and Al 3+ ions with DPPC bilayer can alter the temperature of the gel to liquid crystalline phase transition of DPPC bilayer (increase of about 3 ℃). It can be found that Eu 3+ ion binding to DPPC bilayer makes the radius of DPPC bilayer small, while Al 3+ ion binding to DPPC bilayer makes it large. The complex reaction of Eu 3+ and Al 3+ ion with DPPC bilayer leads to a structual change of the polar head group in DPPC bilayer.
