this paper expounds how to address economic crisis for design institute from the point of transformation and union. The transformation includes extending transformation, technical transformation and market transformation. These three kinds of transformation create a new development space, which are interrelated and promote each other. Union, especially the cross-industrial union, provides new competitive advantages for the development of design institute and effectively helps design institute out of deep valley of economy.
