October 1, 2009, marks the 60th lanniversary of the founding of the People＇s Republic of China. To commemorate the event,China released the movie Jian Guo Da Ye, which has been translated to The Founding of a Republic. When the War of Resistance Against Japan ended in 1945, China was controlled by two political forces, the ruling Nationalist Party, or Kuomintang, led by Chiang Kai-shek, and the Communist party, led by Mao Zedong. Peace talks delivered nothing and civil war between the factions broke out a year later.
