The Gulou (Drum Tower) Area is one of the hottest destinations that most foreigners frequent when they visit, or live in, Beijing. However, few of those foreigners have been to the small exhibition room in the hutong hidden behind the Drum Tower. Nearly every f rst-t me visitor is surprised by the room. Why? It is filled with items, most of which predate the 1970s, which Chinese have been using, for centuries, in their daily lives. What's more, all of the items are part of a personal collection owned by an average Beijinger and his brother.
