Major Achievements of New China in Modernization of National Defense and the Armed Forces and the Historical Experience

新中国成立60年来,在党的军事理论指导下,国防和军队现代化建设实现了伟大的历史性跨越。新中国成立后,国防和军队建设迈上了以现代化、正规化为导向的发展道路。改革开放新时期,国防和军队建设重新回到了现代化发展轨道,并迈出了新的步伐。20世纪90年代以来,积极推进中国特色军事变革,努力实现国防和军队现代化跨越式发展。新世纪新阶段,坚持把科学发展观作为重要指导方针,着力推进国防和军队建设科学发展,在全面建设小康社会进程中实现富国和强军的统一。

A great historical leap has been fulfilled in the modernization of national defense and the armed forces under the guidance of the Party＇ s military theory in the sixty years since the founding of New China. Following the founding of the People＇ s Republic the building of the national defense and the armed forces marched onto a road of development oriented towards modernization and regularization. In the new period of reform and opening up, the building of the national defense and the armed forces returned to the road of modemization and has taken new steps forward. Since the 1990s vigorous efforts have been made to promote the military reform with Chinese characteristics and strive for a leapfrog development in the modernization of national defense and the armed forces. In the new period of the new century, we must take the scientific outlook on development as an important guiding principle, make concentrated efforts to promote scientific building of national defense and armed forces and realize the unity of a prosperous country and powerful armed forces while building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
