As a novel, it is a unique blossom growing out of the soil of the Talking - Singing Arts. Its prose edition （Shuosan edition） is developed from the semi - verse edition. Though it has undergone many a cutout and deletion, the prose edition contains a lot of elements of the Talking - Singing Arts offering a different aesthetic contemplation to the Plum in the Golden Vase of both editions.
