Left-handed material (LHM) and its application in microstrip antenna

摘要 介绍了左手材料(LHM)的概念及其基本电磁特性,采用HFSS软件,设计并仿真研究了一种在聚四氟乙烯微带介质基片两面分别腐蚀出带状周期性排列金属杆和开口圆形谐振环(SRRs)的LHM材料,将该材料覆盖于普通矩形微带天线上,能使微带天线的电压驻波比带宽提高约80%,增益也相应提高1.7 dB,同时天线的前向辐射增强而侧向辐射明显减弱. The concept and main electromagnetic characteristics of left-handed materials were introduced,and a LHM slab which periodic array wires and SRRs were etched on each side of a PTFE dielectric substrate was designed and simulated based on the HFSS software.With the cover of this LHM slab,a normal patch antenna is showed to get a 80% increasing in bandwidth and 1.7 dB in gain,while the front radiation increases and lateral radiation weakens obviously.
