In the novella Ethan Frome thoughts and emotions of humanism are manifested from Ethan＇ s sense of nature, to thinking of self, to strive for his career and love. But because of constraint of natural and social environment and economic basis, more of weakness of humanism, Ethan finally suffered tragic defeat.
