A Contrast of Localism between Shen Congwen and Lu Yao's Works

沈从文和路遥同属于乡土文学的作家,他们的创作都带着浓郁的地域文化色彩,但由于生活的时代背景和审美追求的不同,决定了他们创作上的极大差异:沈从文在湘西风情的描绘中寄寓一种文化的理想;路遥在陕北风物的描写中,去深刻地表现当代特殊历史时期的时代生活和社会发展动向。沈从文的创作体现出向传统回归的倾向,路遥的创作则体现出蓬勃发展的时代气息。

Both belonging to the category of rural-themed writers,Shen and Lu are strongly characterized with regional cultures in their novels.However,owing to the differences in their times and aesthetic pursuit,there exist great differences in their compositions.Shen lodged his cultural ideals in describing the west Hunan customs,and thus showed his will to return to the tradition.While Lu,in his description of the north Shanxi area, gives a deep insight of the restless life in the part of history and the upheavals in the social development, embodying the vibrating development of the times.
