Participating in UN peacekeeping operations has become an important component of India's foreign policy over the years. After the Cold War,with the changes of the international system,as well as that of India's foreign policy,India participates in UN peacekeeping operations frequently. With its participation,to some extent,India maintained the peace and stability in the conflicting areas. On the other hand,India's participation is obviously out of its strategic concerns. By doing so,India desires to protect its own geopolitical interests, tighten the political ties with other countries, contain Pakistan and seek for the permanent membership in UN Security Council.
