《水浒传》中潘金莲、阎婆惜、潘巧云、贾氏等四位女性之所以会出现与人私通的"红杏出墙"现象,主要是与她们在婚姻家庭生活中的不如意现状、不良之徒的教唆和引诱以及她们本人所处的社会环境的不良影响等密切相关。作者浓墨重彩地描写这四个女人红杏出墙的故事,一方面是为了寄寓强烈的警示与戒谕,另一方面是为了渲染梁山好汉"不以女色为重"的英雄品格,同时迎合市民阶层重于娱乐的审美情趣。

It is known that in theWater Margin the four females, Pan Jinlian, Yah Poxi, Pan Qiaoyun, and Jia Shi committed adultery. Several reasons are involved. They were not satisfied with their marriage and families. They were instigated and seduced by the bad guys and they were influenced by the bad social environment at that time. The writer of the novel described the adultery in a rich and colorful manner with a view of warning, advocating the heroic qualities of not touching women on the part of Liangshan Heroes, and also meeting the esthetic appeal of the recreational demand of the townspeople.
