Factors affecting understanding of metaphor

分析隐喻理解过程中本体、喻体、认知语境、人的主观能动性等因素,分析认为,本体和喻体的概念确定、认知语境的建构、主观能动性的发挥等都是理解隐喻必不可少的条件;通过考察与隐喻理解关联这几个因素发现,隐喻理解是一个较为复杂的认知过程。

Through analysis at many factors such as tenor, vehicle, cognitive environment, and subjective initiative etc, it is found that identification of the tenor and vehicle, construction of cognitive environment, and subjective initiative play important roles in determining what exact meaning the metaphor should be. The authors connect the four factors together to try to explain the process of understanding metaphor and believe that to understand a metaphor is not such an easy thing.
