皖西籍作家台静农是现代著名乡土小说家,其代表作之一的《红灯》,通过德银娘悲惨命运的描写,一方面揭示了二十世纪初皖西乡村社会的闭塞落后以及人们精神生活的愚昧与迷信,另一方面也表现了德银娘深沉博大的母爱。小说描绘了一幅具有皖西地方色彩的民情风俗画,有力地表现了"乡间的生死",洋溢着浓郁的"泥土的气息"。

The writer Tai Jingnong from West Anhui is a famous modern fiction writer of contry life. One of his representative works is Red Light. In the fiction,according to the description for the miserable fate of De Yin＇s mother,on the one hand,it reveals out-of-way and backward life, and ignorance and superstition of people＇s spirit life; on the other hand, it also expresses deep and universal love of De Yin＇s mother. The fiction draws a picture with the local color which is characteristic of local people and custom. So it expresses village＇s life and death,full of smell from the earth.
