The different ways in which Professor Xu Yuanchong deals with reduplications in his translation of the poems of the Song Dynasty in the book 600 Chinese Ancient Poems actually coincide with the category of Andre Lefevere's seven different strategies of translating poems: phonemic translation, literal translation, metrical translation, poetry into prose, rhymed translation, blank verse translation and interpretation. During his interpretation of some poems, Professor Xu also reveals the culture hidden in the poem, which in turn echoes to the claim, made by Andre Lefevere and Susan Bassnett, that translation studies should "transfer to culture".
