试论“山寨手机”及“山寨xx”的英译

A Tentative Study on the Translation of "Shanzhai Cell Phone"and the Other "Shanzhai xx"Words

2008年的网络世界,"山寨"一词不胫而走,不仅逐渐流行,而且涵义不断扩大。文章针对这一网络热词对"山寨手机"的多种英译做出辨析,然后对"山寨"、"山寨文化"、"山寨明星"等诸多"山寨xx"族词进行探讨和试译,以求教于方家。

A new word ＂Shanzhai＂ spreads like wildfire in the world of Internet in 2008. ＂Shanzhai＂ has become the most popular Chinese catchword with more and more expanding connotations. This paper first analyzes some incorrect translations of ＂Shanzhai cell phone＂, then makes a study on the translation of other ＂Shanzhai xx＂ words such as ＂Shanzhai＂, ＂Shanzhai culture＂ etc.
