A Comparative Approach to "Love Metaphor" in English and Chinese from the Perspective of Functional Grammar and Cognitive Linguistics

英汉两种语言中存在大量的"爱情"隐喻,不同的语言学流派对此有不同的解释。把功能语言学和认知语言学结合到一起对"爱情"隐喻进行对比,结果发现英汉"爱情"隐喻表达的异同是由人类的物质经验、思维方式和文化差异所决定的。

There are many expressions of ＂love metaphor＂ both in English and Chinese, and different language schools have different explanations for them. This paper attempts to make a comparative study of ＂love metaphor＂ by combining Functional Grammar with cognitive linguistics. The conclusion is that differences and similarities of ＂love metaphor＂ are determined by material experience, thinking mode and cultural diversity.
