中西群己观文化差异对大学生英语写作的影响

Influence of Cultural Differences in the Relation between Group and Individuals on College Students’ English Writing

中国文化强调个体与群体及社会的和谐相处,而西方文化则讲求个体差异。这种群己关系的差异在大学生英语写作中体现得非常明显,具体表现为人称使用、思想观点的表达、主题句位置和文章语气四个方面。英语教师在写作教学中有必要传授中西方文化的差异,分析差异对学生写作的影响,以最大限度地减少母语文化对英语写作的负迁移,提高学生的英语写作能力和跨文化交际水平。

Chinese culture emphasizes the peaceful coexistence of individuals and group, while Western culture puts more stress on differences among individuals. Such cultural differences affect college students＇ English writing in four aspects, namely, the use of personal pronouns, the expressing of opinions, the position of topic sentences and the tone of the essay. It＇s necessary for English teachers to teach cultural differences and make students known of the influence of such differences on their work with a view to reducing the negative culture transfer to the minimum and improving students＇ English writing ability as well as cross-cultural communicative competence.
