A new tridentate phosphine ligand (4 S ,5 S ) 4,5 bis (diphenylphosphinomethyl) 2 (6 diphenylphosphino)hexyl 1,3 dioxolane was synthesized from L g (+)tartaric acid. Rhodium complex of TROP was utilized to catalyze the asymmetric hydrogenation of α acetamido cinnamic acid. The highest optical yield of 70% is obtained in THF at 30℃ for 12 h under an initial hydrogen pressure of 1.5 MPa.
