信息焦点是语言学中的重要概念。它可以体现一般话语中不同部分交际价值的变化。口语中的信息焦点主要靠音调来构建,而书面语中焦点的构建却比较复杂,可以通过强调句型、平行结构、语序调整、词汇手段和标点符号来实现。在英语书面表达中有意识地使用这些手段来突出信息焦点,可以更好地完成交际目的。

Information focus, as an essential concept in linguistics, can reflect change of communicative value contained in different parts of a general discourse. In oral English, information focus is mainly constructed through intonation, while in written English the construction is more complicated. It can be realized by means of emphatic sentence pattern, parallel structure, word order adjustment, lexical devices, as well as punctuation. The conscious use of these means in written Eng- lish can better accomplish the purpose of communication.
