Traditional and Modern Fusion:Similarity of BAI Xian-yong's and WANG Meng's Stream-Of-Consciousness Novels

王蒙和白先勇是中国海峡两岸率先采用意识流手法创作的代表作家,他们的小说创作都因对意识流手法的创造性采用而具有"现代主义"色彩,同时又在小说的结构、情节以及人物塑造和主题内容等方面共同突出了"传统"的根基作用,意识流文学也因为传统与现代的较好融合而顺利实现了东方化进程。

WANG Meng and BAI Xian-yong are first writers applying Stream-Of-Consciousness approach in their novel writing on both sides of Taiwan Strait.Their creative application of the stream of consciousness style adds modern elements to their novels while they both highlight the foundation of tradition in the structure,plot and character development and thematic content.Thus Stream-of-Consciousness literature realized its smooth oriental process via the traditional and modern integration.
