Name,a specific social phenomenon,has profound connections with complicated culture and society,helping people to promote understanding of history,language,psychology,religion and customs of a nation.This paper studies the Chinese and Japanese male names comonly used from 1912 to 2005.It makes comparisons and contrasts between their characterstics and cultural connotaion and attempts to analyze their differences and similiarities.
