This paper describes the background of the starting of Heavy Machinery.Heavy Machinery,as an information platform,has reflected the principles and policies both in economics and politics of China,not only through its content,but also by the layout,from the early days of New China with all that has been left undone to be done to the current all-round development of heavy industry.With the shift of the national-building efforts,Heavy Machinery adjusted the direction of the journal timely,which,nevertheless,has always focused on the most advanced technology and equipment level.Heavy Machinery is not only a treasure platform for technical and scientific researchers,but also a historical testimony of the development of heavy machinery industry.
