Some Comments on Hu Wenbin's Redology Study

胡文彬治红学,著述颇丰,成就卓著,形成了独具特色的治学风格。胡文彬曾学历史,所以历史的眼光成为他考察《红楼梦》及红学研究的一个最基本也是最重要的视角,因此他的红学成就得益于他的历史感觉、宏观视野。同时,他非常注重搜集资料、整合资料和编辑出版红学资料,体现出他的实证工夫。他是一个淑世主义者,有一种与生俱来的社会参与意识和积极入世情怀。这样的品性和个性无不体现在他的治学和著述之中。学术著作往往质朴少文,但胡文彬却能做到在质朴之中文采飞扬,显示了他扎实的文学功底和淬炼语言的功夫。胡文彬痴迷红学、执着于红学。他不仅是有成就有影响红学家,也是为红学呕心沥血的活动家和组织家。

Hu Wenbin has made great achievements and published a lot of writings in his Redology study, and he has formed his unique style in his pursuit of Redology. Attributed to his specialty of history, the perspective of history has become his basic and most important sight when he reviews A Dream of Red Mansions, and contributes to his achievements on Redology. Meanwhile, he lays great emphasis on collecting, conforming and editing and publishing materials on Redology, reflecting his plain tradition and practical efforts in his study. As a meliorist, he has an inherent consciousness to participate the society, by which was reflected in his pursuit of studies and writings. Though academic works is commonly plain, he is able to write literarily, showing his good literature grounding and excellent Chinese skills. Being devoted to and persistent with Redology, Hu Wenbin is not an expert on Redology with achievements and influence, but an activist and organizer for Redology study exerting his utmost effort.
