摘要
英语中有着丰富多彩的同义词,但绝大多数同义词是部分同义词,或称为在意义上有同有异的近义词。同义词在基本意义上的一致性为彼此配合使用提供了条件。其差异性,又为词义和情感表达的精确化、多样化提供了丰富的手段。在语言表达上,同义词具有独特的修辞作用。
English Language is rich in synonyms. The most of them are partial synonyms termed as near synonyms which are similar or little different in meaning. The identical denotation of the synonyms provides a good condition for the synonyms to be coordinated. Their differences provide lots of means for the accuracy and variety of expressing the lexical meaning and one＇s emotions. Synonyms have particular rhetorical functions in verbal expressions.
