晚清媒体中妓女形象探析——以《申报》及画报为中心予以考察

当我们研究晚清时期的社会性别时,我们往往会关注报刊媒体中所反映的女性形象。《申报》和当时形形色色的画报等媒体对妓女形象的观察,可见晚清妓女的"点点碎影"。《申报》同当时画报进行比较,由于定位的不同,《申报》和当时画报在语言修辞上确有不同。《申报》强调了鸨母的恶劣、惨无人道、贪婪与唯利是图及狡猾,而对妓女本身的非议不多。在画报不多的记载中,妓女是作为一个整体负面形象出现的,鸨母并没有被单独区分出来。尽管商业因素影响到报纸媒体的表现形式,而决定媒体中的女性形象的是更深处的社会思想,可以将当时所有的思潮分成传统心态和启蒙思想两个体系中。
