Thomas Wolfe' s life is one of the colorful legends in modem American literature. Within his short lifetime, Wolfe absorbs the most advanced philosophy and science research, presents the history of America and Europe with rich images, and expresses his thinking of life and death and spirit and flesh with acute insights and very careful working attitude. His works are keen on the understanding of time and reflection of his cultural and philosophical interpretation of the value and meaning of human life in the running time. This short story Dark in the Forest, Strange as Time is such an excellent work that blends realistic depiction and philosophical thinking.
