The rising of Arabic library had its political, economical, cuhural and technical backgrounds and as the result of the great importantance of Arabians attached to books and knowledge. Libraries in the Arab Empire can be divided into four types ： Royal library, mosque library, public library and private library, which combined themselves with scientific research and document translation and had every element that a library should have in their architecture and internal design and also provided free service. Libraries in the Arab Empire represented the highest level development of the world library at that time, brought about a great advance in Arab - Islamic culture, promoted seientifle development in the East and West and occupied an important position in the history of the world library. 11 refs.
