论典籍中意识形态的翻译与文化功能对等——基于《孙子兵法》两个英译本的比较为基础的翻译批评研究

On the Translation of Ideology and Equivalence of Cultural Function——A Study on Translation Criticism Based on the Comparison of Two English Versions of The Art of War

讨论了意识形态的翻译与文化功能对等之间的关系,指出在典籍翻译中意识形态的翻译是否起到与原文中意识形态相同的文化功能可以作为翻译批评的标准之一。以《孙子兵法》两个英译本意识形态的翻译为例,认为译者对源文本中意识形态的理解与翻译,在译文中表现为文本内部和文本与副文本之间诠释的一致性。如果译文在意识形态的翻译上没有达到文本内部和文本与副文本之间诠释的一致性,则译文与源文本的文化功能对等也就无从谈起。

This paper discusses the relationship between the translation of ideology and the equivalence of cultural function, pointing out that the fact whether the translation of ideology has played the same function as the ideology in the source text does can be used as one of the standards for translation criticisrn. Based on the comparison of two English versions of The Art of War, this paper contends that the translator＇s understanding and translation of the ideology in the source text embody the internal textual coherence within and between the target text and the paratexts. If the target text and the paratexts fail to fulfil the internal textual coherence, the equivalence of cultural function between the source text and the target text will fail to be produced.
