From "the North integrating with the South" to "the East Meeting the West"——Beijing during the Qing Dynasty in Zhuzhi ci

本文以清代北京竹枝词为线索展开京城记忆,关注其中透露的北京城的发展与转型的信息。文章对北京竹枝词中存留的京城社会生活细节的勾勒,揭示出京城发展中隐藏着的"南"与"北","东"与"西"这两组融合与嬗变的特征。

This thesis gives a recount of Beijing s history through deciphering messages about Beijing s development and transformation contained in Zhuzhi ci（a genre of poetry） written in that place during the Qing Dynasty.Details of social life in Beijing described by Beijing Zhuzhi ci is studied in order to reveal the two sets of traits-the Southern and the Northern,the Eastern and the Western—that were integrating and transforming.
