Southwest China is the origin and center of tea culture, and the ancient Shu Road was the main channel through which Sichuan's tea culture stepped into other parts of the country and again to the world. With the nationwide introduction of tea culture through the Shu Road during the periods from the Pre - qin to the Sui - Tang dynasties, the two great tea areas - Sichuan and Jiangnan were formed. Furthermore, the tea - for - horse trade from the Tang Dynasty was gradually at its best in the Song Dynasty, and Sichuan tea was not only transported to the northwest but also exported along the Silk Road to the central Asia, west Asia and Europe.
