Five talismanic boards were placed in the ceiling of Taihe Dian, the Hall of Supreme Harmony - in the north, east, south, west and center. Each board was inscribed with a common Buddhist mantra(Dharani) text,a prayer plaque and the honorific name of a deity of the imperial household as well as the seventy-two Daoist signs of household protection(zhenzhai). After providing an analysis of these contents of the board, the author shows that collectively the five boards form one complete prayer and talisman, calling for protection of the royal household, nation and people.
