白先勇塑造了很多蕴义丰富的女性形象,尹雪艳即是研究者不可忽视的一个形象。但是评论界大都把她看成"幽灵"、"死神"或是"精灵",然而透过小说文字的表层发现:她既不是能够把人们推向死亡的"幽灵"、"死神",也不是迷人的"精灵",尹雪艳有着难言的苦楚和悲惨的命运。

Bai Xianyong has portrayed many female images with colorful implication,among which Yin Xueyan cannot be neglected by researchers.However,the critics regard her as a ghost,death or wizard.While through the surface of the novel,we can find that Yin Xueyan doesn t embody the ghost and death or the charming angel,but she has painful sufferings and tragic destiny.
