This paper discusses the origin of the concept of sustainable development,and details the four aspects of sustainable development theory. This paper indicates the basic new idea of sustainable developmentis to convert the relationship of human and nature from opposition to cohesion.It is China's policy for the new century to connect the research of population science and sustainbal development. This paper indicates the conditions of sustainable development,suggests the probability of cohesion of population,environment and development. The level of sustainable development is judged by five basic elements and five social characteristics,with the direction of balance and cohesion.
