In The Trip to India by E·M·Forster which attempted to explore integration between Eastern and Western cultures and analyzed the possibility of establishing friendships between the English and the Indians, and the difficulty to communicate between them.Forster pinned his hopes by the means of "Only Connection" to achieve the integration of Eastern and Western cultures.Eventually, however, due to such cultural estrangements as racial, social and religious differences as well as political inequality between the the two sides, neither could the British culture integrate the Indian culture, nor could the English and the Indians establish friendship. All this proved that Forster's idea of "Only Connection" could not be realized.
