This paper analyzes the faunal remains and worked bones from the pre -Shang culture site of Zhangdeng in Anyang and discusses the exploitation of animal resources at the site. The result indicates that the domestic animals such as pigs, cattle and sheep/goats were the major object of meat consumption in the human diet, while the wild animals were rather few. Limbs and ribs from cattle, sheep/goats and pigs were used to make arrowheads, pins, hi, chisels, awls, hairpins, and shovels. Oracle bones were made of the scapula of cattle and pigs.
