摘要 托运人感觉到了泛太平洋航线的痛苦,但运营商们将决定雄心勃勃提高运费的目标是成功还是失败。 Shippers feel trans-Pacific lines' pain, but carrier unity will determine whether ambitious rate goals succeed or fail.Shipping lines in October announce an increase of $1,000 per 40-foot container in the eastbound Pacific, and by the following March they're lucky to get a $150 rate hike. This time, though, carriers are hurting so much that they may exert some self-discipline and pull off a substantial rate increase when they sign service contracts with their customers next spring. The Transpacific Stabilization Agreement,a discussion group of 14 carriers in the Asia-to-U.S.trade,on Oct.6 announced proposed rate increases of $800 per FEU from Asia to the West Coast and $1,000 per FEU from Asia to inland intermodal points and on all-water services from Asia to the East Coast. The TSA also recommended a $400-per-FEU peak-season surcharge effective Aug.1,2010,and full recovery of ancillary charges such as bunker fuel surcharges.
