Water Resources Utilization and Sustainable Development

在分析水资源分布的特点、存在的主要问题的基础上，指出水资源的合理利用是经济社会可持续发展必须解决的重大问题，应重视水资源利用的研究，并考虑解决水资源问题的具体措施．

Based on a comprehensive analysis on features of water resources distribution and some current problems in the utilization, the authors argue that proper exploitation of water resources is a major subject for sustainable development of economy and society. To ensure a sustainable development for China in the 21st century, the authors suggest: ① Hydrology studies should be given priority because they are the bases of water resources researches. ② Water resources should be exploited properly and protected effectively because they are limited.③ Water pollution and hazards should be controlled through long-term planning and scientific management.
