This paper summarizes the history , status and future of the ESA(European Space Agency) developments in inter-satellite laser communications Particularly, the plan, implement and schedule of the biggest project that ESA performed in optical communications at present are given In the end, some development plans in key technology of elements and systems related to the inter-satellite laser communications of ESA are also presented
